Mixed Media

I started doing mixed media when I came up with an assignment to offer my students an opportunity to explore the principles of unity and variety. For my demonstration, I took one of my watercolor studies and collaged lots of scraps of colors onto it, demonstrating variety. To pull things back together and create harmony, I demonstrated painting over the collage. I enjoyed doing it so much that the assignment I created for my students became an assignment for me!
